Comparative Results of Simultaneous Evoked Response Potential Measurements Using Dry Contact Electrodes and Conventional Wet Electrodes

چکیده
Abstract Practical sensing of biopotentials such as the electroencephalogram (EEG) in operational settings has been severely limited by the need for skin preparation and conductive electrolytes at the skin-sensor interface. Another seldom-noted problem has been the need for a low impedance connection from the body to ground for cancellation of common-mode noise voltages. In this article we describe EEG results acquired using EEG hardware based upon dry contact electrode technology, and which uses a proprietary commonmode follower (CMF) which allows a high impedance dry electrode to be used for the ground.

Dry and noncontact EEG sensors for mobile brain-computer interfaces.
Dry and noncontact electroencephalographic (EEG) electrodes, which do not require gel or even direct scalp coupling, have been considered as an enabler of practical, real-world, brain-computer interface (BCI) platforms. This study compares wet electrodes to dry and through hair, noncontact electrodes within a steady state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) BCI paradigm. The construction of a dry c...

Patient monitoring is one of the challenging and significant tasks in healthcare sector. Generally bio-potential electrodes are used to extract low amplitude physiological signals from the human body and for continuous healthcare monitoring of patients in hospital. The conventional wet electrodes provide an optimal signal, but it needs skin preparation and the application of electrolytic gel be...

Objective: In neural response telemetry, intracochlear electrodes stimulate the auditory nerve and record the neural responses. The electrical stimulation is sent to the auditory nerve by an electrode and the resulted response, called electrically evoked compound action potential, is recorded by an adjacent electrode. The most important clinical applications of this test are evaluation and moni...

متن کاملTo What Extent can Dry and Water-based EEG Electrodes Replace Conductive Gel Ones? - A Steady State Visual Evoked Potential Brain-computer Interface Case Study
Recent technological advances in the field of skin electrodes and on-body sensors indicate a possibility of having an alternative to the traditionally used conductive gel electrodes for measuring electrical signals of the brain (electroencephalogram, EEG). This paper evaluates whether water-based and dry contact electrode solutions can replace the gel ones. The quality of the obtained signal by...
